Do you read and analyze the list of ingredients while shopping for a new beauty product? I find it absolutely essential! Of course, I don’t know all the benefits of every single ingredient commonly used in the beauty industry but this is exactly when the Internet comes in handy, right? However, I think that knowing the basics helps you a lot in choosing the right products – at least you will steer clear of the allergic reactions. So today, I will give you a short list of ingredients that are worth looking for in soothing and anti-redness skincare products for couperose skin. I’ll also show you four face serums enriched with naturally derived substances.

Ingredients that couperose and redness-prone skin loves

♡ extract taken from buckeye bark, also known as horse chestnut

Penetrates through the skin to target weak blood vessels and seal them. Chestnut bark extract leaves them stronger so they don’t break, causing spider veins. Additionally, horse chestnut extract promotes resilient and elastic skin.

♡ extract taken from Gotu kola, also known as Indian pennywort or Asiatic pennywort

Improves blood flow and brings relief to irritated skin. Additionally, it encourages collagen and elastin synthesis in skin, increasing their levels.

♡ extract taken from cupressus, also known as cypress

Reduces swellings and contracts enlarged blood vessels. Soothes irritations.

♡ extract taken from licorice

Brightens facial redness and strengthens the walls of blood vessels.

♡ green tea

Strengthens the walls of blood vessels and prevents them from breaking.

♡ marine algae

Bring relief to irritated skin and erase facial redness.

♡ vitamin C

Strengthens the walls of blood vessels and makes them more elastic. Additionally, it brightens discoloration and evens out skin tone.

♡ vitamin K

Minimizes the appearance of spider veins and facilitates blood clotting.

Of course, don’t expect to find a serum that contains all of the above-mentioned ingredients. However, if you’re looking for an anti-redness skincare product, make sure that it contains at least one of these plant extracts and vitamins. Let’s focus now on four soothing face serums that are perfect for couperose skin.

4 best anti-redness serums with naturally derived ingredients

1 Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum

Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum

In this serum you can find two of the above-mentioned ingredients: horse chestnut extract and cypress extract. Interestingly, the list of nature-derived ingredients is longer and includes linden extract and Boerhavia Diffusa extract (note: the latter is an antioxidant). This basically means that this serum doesn’t only strengthen the blood vessels but it also defies aging. I knew that my skin would like this formula very much, and I wasn’t wrong. When I spread Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum over my face, I immediately felt a pleasant, cool feeling – my skin calmed down. Naturally, I’m mostly pleased with the long-term effects: my skin becomes more resistant to daily aggressors, so it doesn’t turn red. Additionally, the red splotches and rosacea are now almost non-existent, which is the most important thing for me. As for the size, Nanoil serum is available in a 1.69 fl. oz / 50 ml glass bottle. The price is okay as for a serum that you can use for a few months, even twice a day.

2 Exuviance AntiRedness Calming Serum

Here is another serum formulated with some quality ingredients. Just like the above products, Exuviance AntiRedness Calming Serum has horse chestnut extract that is combined with white tea and licorice extract. No alcohols, no parabens. And such a formula delivers quick effects. It minimizes and prevents the appearance of spider veins, red splotches and other blemishes. I can also tell you that it moisturizes skin which in turn makes it less sensitive. And even though I love the effects, I’m not a big fan of the texture – my skin has problems with absorbing the serum, so it needs more time to do it. AntiRedness Calming Serum is easy to apply but it penetrates very slowly. For this particular reason, I never use this serum in the morning. But I don’t mind using it at bedtime. The last piece of information is that Exuviance AntiRedness Calming Serum is available in a 29-gram bottle and its price is quite high, at least for me.

3 Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum

The very first thing that caught my eye is the beautiful green color. If you’re wondering why Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum is tinted green, then let me explain this to you – green color camouflages red color, which basically means that this is how the serum gets you even-toned complexion. The texture is runny and absorbs into the skin quickly. The list of ingredients seems to be quite long, and includes Asian pennywort and panthenol that has a soothing and moisturizing effect. Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Re.Pair Serum makes skin resistant to irritants and reduces facial redness – that’s for sure. When it comes to application, in general, I put it all over my face, but sometimes I apply it just topically. Despite being an effective soothing serum, you need to wait a little bit longer to see the desired results. Finally, its price is okay and the bottle has 1 fl. oz / 30 ml.

4 Dermalogica Ultracalming Redness Relief Essence

This one is dominated by licorice and vitamin E. Ultracalming Redness Relief Essence is lightweight and penetrates the skin in no time. What I don’t really like however is the application method. Featuring neither pump nor dropper, Dermalogica serum needs to be put on the palm first, and then transported to the face. When it comes to the results of the treatment, the serum makes skin stronger, thus more resistant to aggressors. This in turn means that it’s no longer reddened. Sadly, I don’t think Dermalogica Ultracalming Redness Relief Essence is good at dealing with spider veins – at least not as well as the above products. The price varies according to the size you go for: if you choose 1.69 fl. oz / 50 ml you will pay more per fl.oz/ml than when choosing the bigger 5.27 fl. oz / 150 ml.

This is basically everything I wanted to tell you today. I hope I helped you realize the importance of finding the right ingredients because only in this way can you combat the problem of irritation and redness.

Take care and till next time!
